Instant Wireless Outdoor Radio Fence
Here’s an "instant" radio fence (product 20-16) with no wires and no laborious setup. Just plug the transmitter into a standard 110-volt outlet at a sheltered spot (typically in your home or garage). Then adjust the transmitter’s range to the desired distance, place the receiving collar on your dog, and you’re set to go.
Here’s what happens: The transmitter sends a signal to the receiving collar that is transmitted clearly through walls and other obstacles. If Rover is within the transmission zone (a circular area 30 to 180 feet in diameter, depending on how you have set up the transmitter) nothing happens. As he approaches the edge of the circle his fully waterproof receiving collar emits a warning beep. If he proceeds beyond the circle he receives a mild correction (besides the warning beep the system has five adjustable correction levels).
Safety features: If your pet leaves the circle the receiving collar shuts down after 27 seconds to avoid overcorrection. Also, in the event of a power outage the system turns off the collar.
Rover needs a bit of training, to a point where he knows where the circular boundary is and also knows he is not supposed to go beyond it. For this purpose, in addition to the transmitter, receiving collar, and receiving collar battery, the system comes with a beep-only training mode, 50 boundary flags, and training instructions.
The system is completely portable and can be moved easily from place to place. The system can be used for multiple pets, as many as you like, so long as each one wears a receiving collar (product 20-16A). The system can also be expanded beyond its 180-foot diameter circle by adding one or more additional transmitters (product 20-16B) positioned so that their circles overlap. Your pets will then be free to roam within all of these overlapping circular areas.
To ensure the waterproof status of the receiving collar, it comes equipped with a special 6-volt battery module (product 20-16C). A signal light on the receiving collar indicates when the battery is low.
Limitations of this product: The transmitter must be protected from the weather and cannot get wet. The system works best in flat yards and performs poorly in yards with sharp slopes or drop-offs. The circular (or multi-circular) shape of the transmission zone cannot be changed; only the size of individual circles and their relative positions can be changed. For all these reasons, it is important to consider whether this fence system is appropriate for your yard’s configuration before you place an order. Other considerations: Because of the receiving collar’s size, this system is not recommended for dogs weighing less than 20 pounds. Nor is it recommended for dogs with thick fur, dogs that are stubborn, large dogs, or dogs that for other reasons are hard to train. In these cases it is preferable to use another kind of fence. Also, the maker advises against keeping the receiving collar on your dog while it is indoors, because household appliances may set it off.
Customers making a return should expect to pay a restocking fee, as outlined in Returns.
