Reel for Electric Fence Conductors
Reels are vital tools for installing any significant length of polywire on an electric fence and (especially) for setting up and taking down portable and temporary electric fence. We offer a relatively small affordable reel that is limited to about 400 meters (1,312 feet) of polywire, this being more than what is needed for most dog fences. For those who think that repeatedly stringing 656 or 1,312 feet of fence wire needs no reel, it’s worth noting that 1,320 feet is a quarter-mile.
Insulated Undergate and Hookup Wire
Insulated electric fence wire, whose insulation can hold in as many as 20 kilovolts, has several uses. Unlike ordinary extension cord (which cannot contain very high voltages) it can carry an electric fence charger’s output from the charger to the electric fence. It can carry an electric charge from the charged electric fence line to various components of electric fence gates. And since it can be buried underground, it can also carry the fence’s electric charge underneath an electric fence gate from one side of the gate to the other. Alternatively, any sort of metal electric fence wire can be threaded through a length of insulator tubing (product 02-85 below) and used as insulated undergate and hookup wire.
Connectors and Tighteners
One or two split-bolt clamps (product 08-33) can make a really nice electrical connection between two pieces of metal wire or between one metal wire and the stripped end of a piece of undergate and hookup wire. However, neither these clamps nor polywire crimp 08-39 are designed to hold together polywires or metal wires that are under any tension. To join such wires or polywires at points where there is a pull, and also to terminate a run of wire or polywire going around a corner knob (product 07-13 or 07-13A), use wire/polywire clamp 08-12B.
Should you be interested in making your wires really tight and straight, you can use products 08-14 and 08-15 below.
